These are the Department's Standard Operating Guidelines. These policies and procedures dictate what we do and how we do it. We prefer the term 'guideline' to 'procedure' because it recognizes that every situation is unique and that these are guidelines designed to help you operate safely while using your best judgement and not necessarily hard-and-fast rules.
