The Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) is the standard reference for initial responses to hazmat situations. It provides information on spills of all sizes and includes information on fire suppression, evacuation zones, and product identification. We have at least one ERG in every apparatus. You should be familiar with using the ERG for initial response.

You can download the ERG from their official site or get it as an application for your phone. The ERG is regularly updated. The 2024 edition is the most current as of August 2026.
