MEFD apparatus care Fasplint vacuum extremity splints. These splints are filled with beads and as the air is removed they become rigid. They can be shaped around an injured area prior to removing the air which makes them more comfortable for patients.

Inventory

The splints are stored in a bright orange bag. Each bag should contain the following items:

  • (2) Small splints
  • (1) Medium splint
  • (1) Large splint
  • (1) Manual vacuum pump

Maintenance Checks

  • Check that each splint is present and that they hold a vacuum.
  • Verify that the pump works correctly.
  • Store with valves open.
