We use chain saws for both wildland and structure fire.

Clearing a Flooded Chainsaw

If your chainsaw floods when you are trying to start it there are several ways to clear it. Here is one way that doesn't require any tools.

  1. Recognize your saw is flooded and stop making it worse.
  2. Turn off the choke by setting the saw to the run position.
  3. Reset the compression valve if it has popped up.
  4. Engage the chain brake.
  5. Kneel on the saw and squeeze the throttle all the way.
  6. Pull the starter cord quickly several times.
  7. Once the saw starts to sputter either ease it to full run or resume normal starting procedures.
