We use chain saws for both wildland and structure fire.
Clearing a Flooded Chainsaw
If your chainsaw floods when you are trying to start it there are several ways to clear it. Here is one way that doesn't require any tools.
- Recognize your saw is flooded and stop making it worse.
- Turn off the choke by setting the saw to the run position.
- Reset the compression valve if it has popped up.
- Engage the chain brake.
- Kneel on the saw and squeeze the throttle all the way.
- Pull the starter cord quickly several times.
- Once the saw starts to sputter either ease it to full run or resume normal starting procedures.
