The CT-6 is a pole-style traction splint used on mid-shaft femur fractures. It is very similar to the KTD used in Skagit County EMS courses. The splint is carried on 11-17 and 11-24 and can be found in a small black bag which may be inside the large orange air splint bags on each rig.
Contraindications
Don't apply the splint in these situations:
- Pelvic fracture or instability
- Knee, ankle, or foot fractures
- Fracture of the femur near either end of the femur(for example a broken 'hip')

Inventory
The following should be included in each split kit:
- (1) pole traction splint with attached:
- (4) velcro straps
- (1) pulley system
- (1) ankle boot
- (1) ischial/hip strap with buckle
- (1) velcro extension strap
- (1) set of instructions
Maintenance Checks
- Make sure all parts are kit.
- Confirm elastic holding poles together is in good condition.
- Assemble splint and look for wear/tear/etc on poles, ankle boot, straps, ropes, buckles, etc.
- Verify pulley system moves smoothly
- Disassemble and return all parts to kit.
