11-24 serves a dual role as a BLS rescue unit and Type 6 wildland fire engine. It carries rescue tools for car accidents, including the 'Jaws of Life', and a full set of medical equipment. A fire pump and 300 gallon water tank give it a firefighting capability. This unit was purchased in August of 2006 and is housed at Station 2.

* Remove from apparatus.
* Attach 2 1/2" or 3" attack hose.
* Open legs to their fully locked position.
* Place spikes so they grip the surface as securely as possible.
* Consider securing the monitor with the included strap.
* Adjust the nozzle to the right (stream) position.
* Ensure the water path is clear.
* Using 2 hands, pull the release knob at the bottom of the bail. Once the bail is moved you can release the locking knob. It will lock automatically when the bail is closed.
* The monitor can be moved side-to-side and up-and-down by pushing the nozzle in the desired direction.

It provides information on spills of all sizes and includes information on fire suppression, evacuation zones, and product identification. We have at least one ERG in every apparatus. You should be familiar with using the ERG for initial response.

You can download the ERG from their official site or get it as an application for your phone. The ERG is regularly updated. The 2024 edition is the most current as of August 2026.

To simplify things we carry one or more containers of our spill clean-up mixture on most apparatus. You'll find a barrel of each material at each station.

The mixture is effective at:

Rehab kits are carried on most of our apparatus and contain supplies to help firefighter recover during operations.

At a '''minimum''', for each seat on an apparatus, the rehab kit must contain:

* 32 oz of water (typically 2, 16oz water bottles)
* 2 servings of Oral Rehydration Solution (such as 'Liquid IV' pouches)
* 1 apple juice pouch (squeezable)
* 1 snack bar (such as Clif bar)
* 1 hand and face wipe (preferably FireWipes or similar)

When selecting materials for the kits consider:

* Items with longer expiration dates to make them easier to keep up-to-date.
* The focus should be on easily absorbed carbohydrates over protein (which is also important long term, but not as ready a source of quick energy).
* Snack bars with no or limited chocolate. They become messy in warm weather.

In 2025, MEFD move to battery powered positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fans. PPV fans are used to clear smoke and CO from structures. Battery powered PPV fans have advantages over our previous gas powered fans:

11-24 serves a dual role as a BLS rescue unit and Type 6 wildland fire engine. It carries rescue tools for car accidents, including the 'Jaws of Life', and a full set of medical equipment. A fire pump and 300 gallon water tank give it a firefighting capability. This unit was purchased in August of 2006 and is housed at Station 2.

The department uses Zoll AED Pros and [[Zoll AED 3]]<nowiki/>s (added in 2025). These AEDs have both adult and pediatric pads. They also record audio during the CPR process.

==Routine Maintenance==
Each month during routine maintenance the following checks need to be made on the AED:

* Confirm that all items are present.
* Check that both the adult and pediatric pads are in good condition (do not open) and have not expired.
* Check that the ready indicator on the front is a green checkmark. If it shows a red x bring this to the attention of an officer.
* Run the unit through its self-check (see below).

* Confirm that the screen says Unit OK.
* Power off the AED.

==Procedure After A Call==
After the AED has been used, the recording made during the call needs to be transferred to the USB stick and given to the Chief.

* Power off the AED if it is on.
* Press & hold the power button for at least 5 seconds to enter Nonrescue mode.
* When it says UNIT OK press the USB softkey
* Press the NEW softkey to download data since the last download or the ALL softkey to download all data.
* Wait until the DATA DOWNLOAD COMPLETE message is shown and the unit powers off.
* Wait 5 seconds before removing the USB key and replacing it with another. An extra USB key is stored in the Station 1 med locker.
* Give the USB key to the Chief.

==Setting the Date & Time==
The date and time need to be set at least twice a year during changes for Daylight Saving Time. These instructions are also on the card inside the battery compartment.

* Power off the AED if it is on.

* When it says UNIT OK press the SET Time softkey.
* Press the right arrow softkey to cycle through the fields (year, month, day, hours, minutes seconds), and the + softkey to change the value.
* Press the right arrow softkey until you've gone through every field.
* To save changes press the return arrow/enter softkey to save the change.
